Get Ready for the New Diablo 4 Season: What You Need to Know

As a new Diablo 4 season approaches, excitement is brewing in the community. Each season brings fresh challenges, rewards, and adventures, but starting anew can sometimes be confusing. If you're wondering how a new season begins and what carries over from your previous characters, this guide has you covered!

Starting Fresh

When a new season kicks off in Diablo 4, you'll need to start from scratch with a seasonal character. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use characters from previous seasons or any eternal (non-seasonal) characters. This means no inherited gear, levels, or achievements. Instead, you'll dive into the season's content with a brand new character, leveling up from scratch.

Campaign Skipping and Endgame Content

If you've completed the campaign with any prior character—whether seasonal or eternal—you'll have the option to skip the campaign on your new seasonal character. Skipping the campaign automatically unlocks all endgame content, including:

  • Capstone Dungeons
  • The Tree of Whispers
  • Mounts
  • Helltide Events

This feature is designed to let you jump straight into the action and tackle high-level challenges right away. However, all side quests and events unrelated to the main story, such as unlocking strongholds and Aspects, will still be available to explore.

What Carries Over: Renown, Map Progress, and More

Even though you start with a fresh character, you’re not starting from scratch entirely. Here's what carries over from your previous characters:

1. Renown Rewards

All the Renown you've earned in previous seasons or with eternal characters is linked to your Blizzard profile, not individual characters. This means:

Renown Rewards: Any Renown-based rewards you've unlocked, such as extra levels, gold, and Obols, will be available to your new seasonal character.

Map Progress: Your progress on the map—including areas you've explored, waypoints unlocked, and Altars of Lilith activated—will carry over. This gives you a head start, as Altars of Lilith provide permanent stat boosts to all characters.

2. Map and Exploration

Your map progress will be transferred to your new seasonal character. This includes:

  • Unshrouded Areas: Areas you've already explored will be visible.
  • Waypoints: Fast travel points you’ve unlocked will remain.
  • Altars of Lilith: Stat boosts from activated Altars will apply to your new character.

If you've missed some areas or waypoints during your previous playthrough, they'll be visible in your new adventure. This provides a convenient way to complete any unfinished exploration.

3. Campaign and Quests

While all dungeons, quests, and NPCs will be reset, you'll still be able to access side content and events that were available in previous playthroughs. This ensures that while your main storyline will start afresh, the side content remains rich and rewarding.

A new adventure has arrived, so prepare d4 gold and items. Players in need can enter "vien" in u4gm to buy d4 items cheaply.
